My tape failures involved DDS3s (among others). After doing regular vstores
after EVERY full backup, we discovered tapes that were not readable on our
other systems. The original drive reported NO problems storeing or vstoreing
the tapes. While this happened only a couple times on our DDS3 drives, the
DDS2 (and ICK) DDS1's were notorious for that.

We then switched our procedures to STORE on one drive, and do VSTOREs on a
separate drive every time.
