i have a shell on a linux box which extracts data from a Unix server 
oracle database and spools the output to a .txt file
i wish to ftp this file to my HPe3000.  however the ftp seems to try and 
make this file on big record.  seams to be some form of <cr><lf> problem.

the record length is 500 so i am told that frombyte would not help. 

I'm looking for either a utility on the linux server which will fix the 
file or a utility on the mpe box which will fix the file. 

any clues would be helpful.
