The UTC Department of Physical Therapy invites all interested faculty,
staff and students to attend a presentation on the rehabilitation work
of UTC-PT faculty member June Hanks in Haiti. The presentation will be
held in the Raccoon Mountain Room in the UC on November 1st at 12:15pm.
On display will be handmade items made by the women in the vocational
training school. Please come and visit Haiti with us!
June Hanks, PhD, PT has been engaged in a physical rehabilitation
program in Les Cayes, Haiti since 1998. She spends the majority of each
summer in Haiti and takes 1-2 short trips during the year. In 2001, she
lived in Haiti and organized existing and new programs that include a
rehabilitation clinic & brace shop, vocational training program for
women with disabilities, and a school sponsorship program for children
with disabilities. A recent program for persons with blindness/low
vision has been added. Dr. Hanks leads rehabilitation teams that include
UTC-PT graduates on short-term trips during the summers. Feel free to
