All US flood insurance is underwritten by that "four letter
F word" a.k.a. FEMA. During a claim the agent who sold the
policy for FEMA/NFIP has little or no involvement with settlement.
The standard rule of thumb seems to be meek senior citizens
are expected to accept 25% of actual damages but folks who
get irate can get up to 50%.
Geico paid on my destroyed car in a week. I am still fighting
a FEMA/NFIP claim from 9/2003. Many of my neighbors are waiting
for a court date against FEMA and their agents who misrepresented
when selling flood insurance policies.
