I've had a DDS-3 and DDS-2 act similar to this. I'd get in and un-power
them, re-plug power, boot and be running again.

Too bad there is not a reset switch to hit on scsi devices. But you couldn't
reach it anyway when enclosed.

Wasn't there a SIB item to get a SCSI command interface, so the user could
issue SCSI commands?

Does SCSI have commands for RESET, POWER-UP, POWER-DOWN that would
help like this?
