Jim,

I have hooked up several non-hp drives to the HP3000 all of them have worked fine.

My understanding is that "the firmware "protects" the data in the event of a power failure."

So I have been told, to make sure any non-hp drives have a UPS or battery backup in the event of
power failure.

Of course that could all be hog wash as well, but I was told that about 10 years ago.
