Oh, I had already come to that conclusion on Friday past. I am
persisting on my own account now out of sheer perversity. If there
is some way of getting this lash-up to work then I would like to find
out how to do it just for the knowledge. I have already learned
through this experience a very great deal about SCSI and HP3000 918LX
hardware that I had never the occasion to acquire previously.

I located a couple of ST318416Ns for $175.00 USD each from a dealer
in Texas on Friday. Shipping to Canada is $28.60 USD more for the
pair. I will order them on Monday (best to have a spare I think).. I
had been quoted off list, in all seriousness, prices from $890.00 to
$375.00 USD for the same item.

What is this HP firmware that sales people keep mentioning? Is there
something special with respect to drives installed on HP's version of
SCSI required to get them to work?

Regards,
Jim
