Eric Young's cryptographic programs were the basis for OpenSSL and the
libcrypto that is part of the OpenSSL distribution.
If you don't already have it on your 3000, you can download it here

or the most recent source code from http://www.openssl.org/
You may be able to do what you want with the openssl command-line
utility, e.g.
openssl enc -des3 -pass file:keyfile -des3 -in plain.txt -out crypt.txt
