You're trying to connect where how?  Just for grins, are you running Black
Ice?

I'm not sure what it might do under other environments, but I had to force
my Reflections connect to use Telnet, rather than Best Network which tried
to use VT Server, when direct connecting via our Lan.  Black Ice was
having a field day testing my patience (and no, I have no access to BI
administration, so I gotta play by other folks' rules).
