Have you tried :
HELP SETLVAR
That'll show you if it's a UDC or not. Chances are it's a UDC file that
does what you're expecting MPEX to do.

Subject: [HP3000-L] MPEX without RUN MPEX?
Hi,
I'm looking at a customers job and I can see that they are doing MPEX
commands like SETLVAR without invoking MPEX. How does that work? Do
they have some setup on their HP3000 to make all jobs run as MPEX? Or
are they not using the normal STREAM command?
It's got things like this -
!SETLVAR A,1
Where I'd expect
!RUN MPEX
SETLVAR A,1
EXIT
There is a !JOB at the start.
Thanks.
Peter
