Jose,

It sounds like you got the picture... let me see if I can put them in step

First make sure you have
1) a full backup
2) a CSLT
3) A tape with the BULDJOB1 and BULDJOB2 (files created by BULDACCT), I also like to put NMCONFIG.PUB.SYS, @.NET.SYS, QUAD.PUB.SYS (or any other editor you use) and a few others, but I am doing this from memory

You can create 2 and 3 even if the drive is bad, as long as the bad drive is not LDEV1

OK, so replace the drive... I am assuming everything is in one volume set, hence the requirement for a reload.

So replace the drive.

1) put the CSLT tape in and boot from the alternate path > BO PRI
2) and the ISL prompt enter INSTALL answer Yes to begin the process
the system will reboot when it is done
3) put the tape with @.NET.SYS in and restore it.
4) VOLUTIL
    NEWVOL MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET:MEMBER2 2 100 100

Do this for each drive changing the member name and ldev
5) RESTORE the special tape with @.NET.SYS and the BULDJOB1
6) STARTSPOOL LP
7) STREAMS 10
8) STREAM BULDJOB1 to put the accounting structure back
9) This is important, create a job to do the RESTORE @[log in to unmask]@;KEEP;SHOW;OLDDATE:PARTDB

The reason why you want to do it in a job, is so you don't tie up the console... also when it is done, the show will be VERY long at 9600 bps.

10) reboot the box START NORECOVERY
11) STREAM BULDJOB2 to get the UDC'S back

You should be done.

I did this off the top of my head so, I may be missing something, but I am sure others on the list will find it.

Regards,

-Craig

Help !!!

I need to replace a disk and I don't remeber what the steps are to do the
reload. Any suggestions? I mean within reason.

I know about the full system backups using the ";directory" parameter.
I remember that I should have 2 backups and a SLT tape created.
And after the drives is replaced, I need to do a VOLUTIL to scratch the
drives. Then after the NEWVOLs are created, I do a restore. Is that all I
have to do?
I know about the BULDACCT at the start of this process and know that the
UDCs wont be available untill after the restore from the back up tapes.
Then I do another boot with 'START NORECOVERY'.

I hope thats all I have to do , cause thats about all I remember.

Thanks, in advance for any comments or suggestions.

BTW, we're on a 968 running MPEiX 6.0........
