insist I get passed."

I'm reminded of the story certain newspapers so enjoyed printing when
the Clintons visited France during (I think) their second term and
Hilary's amazement that their two political parties could band together
to pass comprehensive funding or reform for a portion of their primary
school system was met with the incredulous response "they are our
CHILDREN" as if that fact would override political interests in any
intelligent culture.
