Bummer :-).....In the interim, is there any other way to manually get the
door open pending getting it fixed so that the tape drive can still be used

Sounds like a problem we had a few years back before "retiring" the reel-to-
reel.  It was the rocker switch that needed to be replaced; actually the
entire panel of rockers was replaced.  I think the contacts finally broke
down or wore out.
