You might email Carl Kemp. He might be willing and able to make this change
for you.

Failing that, I would recommend using netrc files. They are explained
somewhat in FTPDOC.ARPA.SYS, starting at line 660 on our box, but could be
explained better. As for security, we created a group in another account
just for them. Our ftp jobs have a unique and secured logon UDC, with the
file equation pointing to the appropriate netrc file. It gets the job done,
although they could be made even more secure.

But SOX required you to replace your ftp logon passwords?
