Last year I was a project manager for HP3K to IBM iSeries project,
but we implemented a package and just abondoned the old programs.
Mapping the data for the data conversion was a big job. Of course
the hardest part of that type of project is to get the user buy-in
for new processes, not technical issues.
As a platform the iSeries is a great machine. Full of features,
iSeries Client Access is a great PC toolset, build-in database,
job queues, printer queues, lots of documentation. If you still
haven't given up on the integrated system concept, you'll like
working with the iSeries.
