Faculty Senate Secretary Betsy Darken wrote to Faculty Senators:

Thanks, Betsy, for sending this out to the Faculty Senators.  I am the person
who forwarded this concern to the Faculty Senate Executive Committee.  I later
received an additional correspondence from the person who brought this to my
attention ... and also, given further reflection, I decided that this issue
should be mentioned to all faculty and staff so that they might make their
opinions known to their elected representatives.

Accordingly, to all my colleagues across campus, the original messages I
received (minus the name of the sender who wishes to remain anonymous):
