Not so much with ftp, although that depends on whose daemon you're
connecting to on the Linux box. But there is the REMSH.NET.SYS client, which
can execute a single command on your Linux system, if it's running the
remote daemon (rshd? rcmd?). IIRC, remsh can use a .netrc file to secures
its password and logon information. If so, you should use that as well.

Also, hasn't ssh been ported to the 3000?
