Greg,
when you can use the MGET to retrieve the file to a local
directory where its name is still unique, you could then
use a wildcarded Posix mv to rename it.
For example, to rename a file DATA???? to MYFILE...
:xeq /bin/sh "-c 'mv DATA???? MYFILE'"
Should work as long as DATA???? only matches 1 filename.
But this might be achieved by using a dedicated (empty)
subdirectory for the file transfer step.
