Have you considered:

1)  Save out entries to KEEP with SUPRTOOL
2)  Adager erase set (really quick)
3)  Load entries kept in file above back in with SUPRTOOL opening the database with exclusive access (no locking)

Quick question: Fastest way to delete records from an IMAGE database.

Background: Amisys shop migrating to Amisys Advance. We want a quick 'n dirty way to reduce the size of our production database for unit testing purposes. In lieu of purchasing Amisys' solution, we've created our own archive utility. Unfortunately, it runs a *long* time. So, we thought we'd just hack out a huge portion of the CLAIM and SERVICE datasets. Ignoring the logical inconsistencies that would create, what's the fastest way to do it?

CLAIM: ~11 million entries to ~2.5 million, ~78% reduction
SERVICE: ~23 million entries to ~5 million, ~79% reduction

#1: Suprtool in mode 3 with SET DEFER ON
#2: Suprtool in mode 3
#3: Extract out the selected records into SD file w/Suprtool (mode 3), dump the datasets via Adager, the load the datasets with Suprtool (mode 3, SET DEFER ON)

Any thoughts? Please, no calls or emails about migration 'solutions'. Most of those decisions have already been made.
