From: President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports - December 2004
"Epidemiologic studies suggest that 30 minutes per day of brisk walking can
reduce the occurrence of cardiovascular disease in women and men. In a
sedentary society such as ours, public health initiatives that promote
moderate increases in physical activity may represent the optimal balance
between efficacy, feasibility, and safety to achieve the desired
cardiovascular benefit."
Researchers generally agree that physical activity provides cardiovascular
benefits. When will we as the educational leaders of society underwrite
these efforts?
