After reading the company's page concerning their "ratware", I have another
piece of software to add to the list - a firewall other than the windows
firewall. In other words, a firewall that does more than just stop
unauthorized incoming connections. Stopping unauthorized outgoing
connections goes a ways towrds blocking the "ratware" crap. I personally
prefer zone alarm, though it does take some configurating to get it the way
you want it and some seem to dislike it because of the work involved in
configuring it.
To paraphrase the immortal Strother Martin as Cap'n, Road Prison 36 in Cool
Hand Luke: What we need here is a failure to communicate. On the part of the
ratware that is.
The actual quote is of course, " What we've got here is failure to
communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last
week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it. And I don't like it any
more than you men." Strother Martin, Cool Hand Luke
