And if the 3000 is meant to only act in the client role, you could
even get by without running the Samba/iX server job and simply using
the smbclient program to get/put against a shared Windows drive.
If you need more than just get/put of complete files, i.e. access
a remote file for selected read or write operations (like smbmount
would allow for Linux), then things get a little more tricky...
You could try to use selected pieces from the Samba source code to
build "parts of smbclient" into your own program, but I guess that
it would be easier to write a little Java/iX program using the JCIFS
libraries from http://jcifs.samba.org for this purpose.
