I understand that many members of this list dislike Brian, given his
habit of calling those who disagree with him morons or psychos, but
mimicking his behavior hardly raises the level of civility on this list.
Can't we disagree without resorting to name-calling and personal
attacks?

This trend was succinctly described in a talk I heard recently about
politics in America.  The speaker said, "Civil discourse is too often
giving way to impugning motives and assassinating character."  How about
discussing the actual point of disagreement rather than the attributes
of your adversary?
