I use a very low-tech (but effective) external hard drive. I bought a Western Digital 160GB from a local office supply chain. The backup software that came with it allows a host of options for backup, but I just use the 'backup the MY DOCUMENTS' option. It also serves as a USB2 port (has a plug in the front), and the data transfer is via firewire (or USB2 if you don't have a firewire port).
