JFK took English and used the equivalent German words, and that'll get you
into trouble in many languages - especially when translating idioms.

The thing about German is you have to be really patient.  Because of the
word order (verb last), in many cases you have to wait for the last word for
find out what happened:

   The boy who lives in the brown house, at five thirty, in a yellow jacket
---- slept.

Also, the helper verbs (had, have) come earlier in the sentence.

   I had lots of money twenty years ago saved.

But I find that German is far more logical than its distant cousin English.
