That story is true. The Iraqi T-55 was hiding being a sand berm and was
taken out by an M1 Abrams firing through the sand.

The M1 met the T-55 in the first Gulf War and whilst the T-55 can expend
all its ammunition on an M1 and not make a dent, the reverse is not
true. The M1 dispatched the T-55 with single shots, at long range and
on the move. There is even a case (probably not true) of an M1 shooting
at a gaggle of T-55s and knocking out two of them with a single round.

And then there is the case of the Amedican tank knocking out the Russian
make hiding being a sand dune.

I don't know the Tank types here or for sure if the story is confirmed,
but it makes a good story.
