I've done this and it works.  I did a proof of concept for a customer a few
years ago in which we sent faxes from an HP 3000 through a PC fax server.

 Hum, not 100% sure but isn't there a remote shell client on HP3000
(REMSH.NET.SYS) ?

Then, in the old days, I think you could have installed a remote shell
server on Windows NT4.  Now, I guess it might also be possible on more
recent flavors ???
