I would not be surprised, but it's a bit early for most of us to say. I
only took my hurricane shutters down this week and I took most of what I
removed from the boat back this morning. Everything of value that could be
removed, rode out the hurricane here at that house rather than on the boat.
I imagine the shoreline has been modified quite a bit. The panhandle was
certainly hit hard, but probably not as hard as the east coast, about 100
miles north of me. The east coast got two direct hits and the back side
impact of a third hurricane.
Ray Jones lives in the Pensacola area and I have friends who just returned
from time with the Red Cross up there. Ray seems to have done well, but
not everybody did. The panhandle has a lot of serious damage.
Surprisingly, my Red Cross volunteer friends are off to the Orlando area
next. While it's quite a ways inland, reports are that people there had a
lot of damage as well.
East coast or panhandle, it will be a long time before people in Florida
forget this hurricane season.
