For at least two weeks Comcast High Speed Internet customers have
reported unreliable delivery of mail to UTC addresses. Unfortunately,
the problem lies on the Comcast end so there is little the University
can do other than try to get Comcast to address the issue. We are not
blocking Comcast here.

Some messages sent via Comcast using Outlook, Eudora, or other e-mail
applications are simply never received by UTC's mail system. Others go
through just fine, so if you see some mail being delivered, that
doesn't mean the problem is solved. Sometimes, often days later, the
Comcast sender will get an "undeliverable" message back from Comcast;
other times they will not.

Until this issue is resolved, we recommend that Comcast Internet
customers use the web-based MY E-MAIL at
http://onenet.utc.edu
to send mail to utc.edu addresses. Doing so bypasses the Comcast mail
servers and avoids the problem.

Clearly, this issue has a real impact on productivity and learning on
our campus. Please know that UTC's Information Technology Division
understands the importance of getting Comcast to fix the problem and is
doing all we can to speed that resolution.
