The closest fish I can think of that resembles the carved fish is
one of those two-foot long ramoras I saw in Raiatea and Moorea.

The one you're thinking about is the ironwood shark I bought in
Cancun years ago.  THAT fish weighed about 10 times more than the
one I purchased.  :-)

Of all the word carving of fishes I've seen all over the world, I
have never seen anyone carve a trumpetfish!  I wonder why.
