Gosh, it's gone quiet around here! No matter. Some us are still diving and
generally enjoying ourselves! :-)

FWIW! Over the past few weeks Sylvia and myself have, every morning, been
watching two Southern Right Whales playing off the beach at Dee Why Wide, a
30-metre plus deep reef off of Dee Why beach that, on the ocean side,
plummets down to the Continental Shelf. It's a great place to dive to see
prolific arrays of soft corals - and the remains of a few wrecks and modern
day heavy duty anchors covered with colourful growth.

Seeing two whales together so often in the same area is rare - even by
Sydney standards! These two should, previously, have been heading north -
and now, at this time of year, south to the feeding grounds in the Southern
Ocean. That they're still here is remarkable. Mind you, we've had more
whale sightings off Sydney this year than ever before. A good sign and,
hopefully, an indication that whale populations are gradually recovering
from the hunting days that only ended (here in Oz) in the 'Seventies.

(There've also been pods of dolphins - but they're nothing compared with the
whales!) :-)

Hopefully they'll cruise into Shelly Beach again - as they did last year -
while we're diving there on the week-end. :-)))
