Art F., you are perhaps right; despise should be replaced with abhor in
a corporate environment.
Right now, I use the built-in ICF in XP and I understand this firewall
will be beefed up tremendously in SP2, which should be released shortly.
Also, there is an MS upgrade for wireless users that want to have access
to WPA, with either PSK or RADIUS authentication. You can download it
after looking for 815485 (Windows XP Support Patch for Wi-Fi Protected
Access.)

I agree that ZoneAlarm is not a suitable replacement for a good
router/firewall device in a corporate environment. However, in
ZoneAlarm's defense ("despise" is such a strong word, Denys!) I have
found that it works quite well on my home machine. And once it's
configured, I only see it pop up when applications are installed or
updated, which isn't very often.
I see that Art ("The Original") is big into BlackICE. What does this
product do that ZoneAlarm does not? What about other PC-based
firewalls?

A fair question. I have had too many places where the service runs
away
with the machine. And it keeps popping up at the most inopportune
moments.
I find that in a corporate environment, a good router like a
Watchguard
or some such does a tremendous job.

Oh, and just to throw fuel on the fire; I despise Zone Alarm. :-)
