Hello. We are not going to go the gzip route on our big files. A simple
listf ,2 will give me the information of how big the records are in an ascii
file, and how many records there are in the file. Does anybody know of a
good utility to do that once I have the file on my win2000pro/win-xp-pro pc?
We would like to be able to tell what ftp "got" from the hp, even if I
specify ;rec=-500,,f,ascii on the get. On outside vendor is telling us the
records are 501 bytes when they should be 500, and it is causing a problem.
I've done some simple tests with very small files built with 500 bytes fixed
ascii, and they look fine to me after pulling them down from the HP, short
of going on the line and pressing the arrow key 500 times and counting. I'd
like to have something on windows that will tell me more about the file,
size of records, number of records, etc..

Anyone know of anything free?

Thanks.
