First, run LINKEDIT and enter the following command: LISTPROG PROG=<program name>. Among the first things displayed will be the list of capabilities assigned to the named program file. Next, look at the capabilities of the group in which the program resides with a LISTGROUP command. If there are any capabilities assigned to the program that are not assigned to the group, you must add them using the ALTGROUP command. For example, if the program needs PH capability, and the group lacks it, you would use: ALTGROUP <group name>;CAP=+PH. Note that the "+" at the beginning of the capability list makes it unnecessary to list all the capabilities. It simply adds the new capability to the existing list.

If the account in which the group resides lacks the desired capability, you will not be able to add the capability to the group until it has been added to the account with the ALTACCT command.

Subject: Re: Question about creating packages in MPE/IX

Tom,.
All is well with STORE/RESTORE, except when I RESTORE and go to execute
what I "STORED", I get this error:

Program requires more capabilities that allowed for this group, the user
of a temporary file, or the hierarchical directory user.

Any ideas, and/or options for "NEW GROUP" I can use, or how to change
the capabilities of this group?

TIA!
