Denys, I'm just relieved to know that it was just a brain f**t, and not one of the many Senior moments that I have.

John, you are indeed correct, my mistake. It was a brain f*rt. I put
it down to long hours and mileage. Also, I blame the total lack of
presence and leadership from Mondull and Dukakis (they all looked the
same to me.) :-)

Denys, Another correction It was Bush the first that beat Dukakis, and
not by a trouncing. Reagan trounced Carter, and Mondale

Polarization

Speaking of finding and advocating the wackiest people you can find,
here are some headlines from the New York Times, Wirt's preferred source
of information.

o- Americas' clashes with Germans Grow, Oct. 9, 1945
o- Reich Girls Want Return of Nazism, Oct. 21st, 1945
o- Germans Reveal Hate of Americas. Oct. 30th, 1945
o- Russia Also Eager to Quit Germany, Nov. 6, 1945
o- Americans Leave Dislike in France, Nov. 11, 1945
o- Loss of Victory in Germany Through U.S. Policy Feared, Nov. 17th,
1945
o- Germans Declare Americans Hated, Dec. 3rd, 1945
o- Germans Declared Far Behind on (Atomic) Bomb, Dec. 6th, 1945
o- Russians Spread Efficiency and Communism in Germany, Dec. 26th, 1945

Perhaps you might notice some similarities with current day headlines
from the "paper of (broken) record."

BTW, this "paper" has not endorsed a Republican for President in 1950
(Eisenhower,)they even endorsed Dukakis, the one Reagan trounced by in a
massive landslide.

Talk about a paper with an agenda. And you should see who owns the New
York Times.

Now as for the sites to which I linked. I just entered the title of Mr.
Crichton's talk and his name in Google and selected as a link the first
site that came up. That just happened to be sepp.com. There are over
400 other sites. Sepp.com is just one of many that have the transcript
of the talk. I linked to this paper not because of the bits about
global warming pro or con, but about the politicization of science.
This is what we are talking about now.

I linked to the other paper, not because of its intent but rather as
another example of how science is under the control of an establishment.
I was a little uncomfortable linking to it because of the bits about
God, as you might have noticed I NEVER get involved in religious
arguments, that's a credo of mine. :-) I consider religion to be far
too personal.
