Mr. Byrne

I am confused by your response. It appears you disagree with me, yet you
state my case rather well.

You claim effrontery by those who accept public money to protect us from
dishonest practices, accepting money to promote private interest. This is
exactly what has been happeneing with the current system. Instead of
a system whereby private companies provide research results with less than
noble motives, we have a collection of special interests doing the same
thing. All that has happened is one set of ignoble motives have been
substituted for another.

One result is research results are held up by bureaucratic regulation,
so people die because they do not get treatment which might save their
lives.

Government regulation arises from a bunch of political hacks who have an
agenda to service, and the voice of the people who suffered consequences
is swept up by the wind. The truly 'elite', as in the people who truly
know whereof they speak, have their voice swept up by the wind too.

It is popular to demonize the 'corporate monster' who's agenda is obvious,
and easy to ignore other special interests, who have a not so obvious
agenda.

So I guess your position is, it is a terrible wrong for a corporate
entity to profit from use (or misuse) of public funds, but other
special interests to do so is OK. Also, you seem to think is is
wrong for a corporate entity to profit from research funded by the
corporate entity.
