O.K. Thanks to others, I've determined that my canned program is not using the SI/SO characters to switch betweens barcodes and text. It is using the escape codes directly to force the default font to be a bar code within the same document.

O.K. Fine.

Next problem: One printer has is an old LaserJet 4+ and the other is an 8000 with bar code dimms.

Same spool file redirected to the LaserJet 4+ comes out correctly whereas if it is redirected to the 8000 comes out with bold text.

So, what am I missing this time? Is there something I'm supossed to 'tell' the 8000 so it thinks it's barcode dimms are internal fonts?
