Ok, this is a very politically in-correct question.... but...

If the chip is slowed down by software, how is it done?

Does it call a counting routine? What's the name of the crippling routine?
Would the famous no-op command help here?

If it IS done in software, can't there be a work around in software?

Not that any of us WOULD do that, but experimenting for experiment's sake is
legal.
