Yes, you can change the characteristics of the serial 'flow
control' with TTUTIL.
You will need to findout in NMMGR which profile is setup for
this LDEV/DTC-port. In the profile there is either a standard
term-type (e.g. 22 or 26) configured, or a reference to your
own customized term-type file (e.g. MYTT22.TERMTYPE.SYS).
I suggest you make a copy of the system defined ones and
experiment with your copies.
In TTUTIL there is a Printer Control Screen in which you can
specify the read timeout for the status request and the number
of retries. e.g. set it to 120 seconds and let it retry 5 times
to get your 10 minutes.
There is some oddity about using TTUTIL (IIRC), you have to do
BOTH <ENTER> and use the 'Save Data' F1 function key, and I
never could remember in which order, so I conditioned myself
to always do <ENTER> F1 <ENTER> to be on the safe side.
There must be a manual that covers the above in more detail,
TTUTIL is also called a 'Workstation Configurator', that might
help identifying the manual.
Also IIRC you can only once load a new TT file for an LDEV
(per reboot cycle), I don't think dynamic LDEV configuration
has changed that.

Goetz
