We are trying to set a new payslip print from the 3000 to networked
laserjets, without going to fully PCL coding. ie, want to select 12 pt
courier, without having to specify coordinates of every field along the way.
One old laserjet defaults to 12pt, all the later ones go to 10pt. After a
bit of playing I found that I could enter PCL mode ('27"%1A"), and specify a
fixed font ('27"(12U"'27"(s0p10h0s0b4099T") and get 12 point on all
printers -- old 5L, 1200, 4050, Xerox. Nice and easy, normal print code
after that.
Then I am told, lets get a faster LaserJet - 4200N is 33 pages a minute -
check it can do the 12 point first. Supplier refers me to a HP support
line, which, by the accent, is in India.
me- 'Can I do 12pt Courier printing on a 4200N ?'
them -'Que?' 'What? Spell that please? Wait please'
Pause......'I will have to get back to you on that Sir. Can I have an email
address? '

Still waiting.
