The Sequatchie Valley Institute, a non-profit organization, will host 
its 6th annual Food For Life gathering July 8th – 11th. This 
comprehensive food conference includes skill-building workshops as well 
as discussion-oriented political dialogues. Participants can learn 
various food preservation strategies including canning and 
fermentation, as well as different methods of cooking, diet choices, 
health and nutrition. Workshops on edible and medicinal plants, seed 
saving, permaculture, and biodynamic and organic gardening practices 
will be available. The workshop cost is a sliding scale fee of $25-$50 
(includes camping in the woods and excellent vegetarian meals) with 
work trade and scholarships available. It is also possible to sign up
