Unless it talks PCL, I think you are sh!t out of luck. We have several label
printers we have connected to DTC, and need to move them to network (remote
offices losing DTC, going to Private IP). Coincidentally we have some code
used to intercept spool files for a specific printer number and send them
via ftp to a PC running Bullet Proof FTP server. This enables users to
select this printer no, do a report, it goes to the pc, they connect, pull
down the soft copy, suck it into XL or whatever, very useful.
Based on this, we can now define a printer on 3000, intercept the
spoolfiles, send them to a configured IP address PC, which has a serial
printer hanging off it, print them locally.
So in 3000, in posix space we have a config file like
printer 74 - send via ftp to 192.168.x.43
print 611 - send via ftp to 192.168.5x.125
on 192.168.5x.125 is a piece of code that looks for files in a dir and
prints them. Can handle multiple printers hanging off a single pc on serial
ports, just need to specify port no.
easy.......well, can be done, seems fairly reliable.

Subject: [HP3000-L] Adding an impact printer to the HP3K
One of our offices added an IBM printer and wants to connect it to the
network for use by both our HP 9000 and HP 3000. I'm unable to get the 3K to
talk to it. I can ping it.
Any ideas where to start? I'm guessing a problem with a setup file.
Thanks.
Bob
