Growing Herbs for Your Kitchen and Medicine Cabinet
Saturday, April 24, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. (Central Time)

Patrick Ironwood, director of landscape and architecture at the Sequatchie
Valley Institute (SVI) and Carol Kimmons, director of education, will teach
you how to grow healthy and tasty herbs - some may already be growing in
your yard! You'll identify common edible and medicinal plants while
becoming more familiar with cultivated varieties. In addition to touring
the SVI edible landscape and gardens, learn how to use plant extracts to mix
up a salve made with an infusion of medicinal herbs, olive oil and beeswax
to use on cuts, scrapes or as a moisturizer. Includes a delicious herbal
lunch fresh from the garden and an herbal cutting to plant at home. SVI is a
non-profit educational organization and center of sustainable living.
