The UTC Faculty Federation has organized a meeting with Cameron
Brooks (Communication Workers of America) and Sandy Hicks (United
Campus Workers) at noon in the Racoon Mountain Room. The Knoxville
staff has created the UCW  to improve salaries and working conditions
at UTK; some faculty members (including the President of the UTK
Faculty Senate) have joined the organization in solidarity with the
staff. The Communication Workers of America is the organization that
is helping to organize the UCW into a union.  The CWA has lobbyists
in Nashville,  and the UTC Faculty Federation is considering uniting
its efforts with colleagues and co-workers at UTK.
The Faculty Federation wishes to invite all faculty and staff to what
we hope will be a very informative meeting.
