Even when book orders are placed on time, requests are second guessed.
Occupational Therapy even tried to adjust for a lowball order to make
sure our 14 students had their textbooks in a timely fashion. We
requested 20 of each. However, only a handful of books were on the
shelves. It took 2 weeks into a fast paced semester to purchase required
texts, to the detriment of students, professor and my stress level.

Where's my certificate?

It gets worse: they sent Foreign Languages a certificate of good
behavoir (my spin)!!! You're welcome to come "admire" it.
Have we forgotten that when Marcia Noe spoke up about this she was
asked to publicly apologize to our beloved bookstore manager??

Subject: [UTCSTAFF] UTC Staff: Fall Text Book Orders

Bill and Eileen,

Not only do I agree with both of your concerns, I would like to add my
own.

There appears to be a perception of some kind of a "race" for
departments to get text book orders in. This creates stress and
anxiety for the secretaries who are made to feel like they are not
doing a good job if they don't get their textbook orders in as fast
as possible. Faculty need time to reveiw and reflect before they
submit their text book orders. That made me the "big heavy" who has
let the department down by not submitting my book orders.

Remember the congratulatory email a week or so ago from the bookstore
to those departments who had gotten their bookorder in on time. Isn't
this a bit childish and unprofessional?
