Aren't we getting what we deserve though. I mean, after all, if any third
party pops up in the both the British and American elections they never have
a hope of getting elected.

Just a example, my Mum, tells me that she won't for a certain party because
the leader is Scottish, so he would just take all the English money and give
it to Scotland. Obviously ridiculous, but unfortunately a lot people think
like this. I won't even dare tell you her opinion on foreigners. There's
some people in Britain that vote Labour because their Dad did.

Unfortunately with the complete lack of comprehension or interest in
Politics, it no wonder we get the Politicians we do.

It's not a particularly depressing view. It's very realistic to assume that
politicos of all flavors do not have any form of public service and/or
public interest in mind. All they do is basically sell themselves of their
platforms as the current talk-of-the-day, and them sell the same overcooked
merchandise over and over at each election. To me, electoral platforms are
the equivalent of microwaved leftovers, with no taste, and re-hashed over
and over every 2/4/5/6 (underline your local legislative body's term length)
years.

IMHO, believing in politicos' sincerity is like, say, believing in Santa
(called Father christmas, here, btw).

In other words, I view Yosef's statement not as depressing, but as
realistic.
