So if there are any aliens on a planet circling that star then perhaps they
are not interested in signalling, or are doing it in a way we cannot yet
detect.

I found this statement to be a bit misleading.  If there is alien life on
that planet it is entirely possible they do not have radio (The most
likely method of signalling).  Intellegent life on Earth existed for
thousands of years before radio was invented.
