As part of their SECURITY/3000 product, VESOFT provides a procedure, VEOPEN,
that makes it unnecessary to have embedded IMAGE passwords. I have had great
success in using it, but now I am stumped.

Has anyone been able to get VEOPEN to work in conjunction with a
database-access (DBA) file?

A DBA file looks to a program just like an IMAGE database on the local
machine, but it contains the necessary information for IMAGE to issue a
DSLINE command and a REMOTE HELLO, logging on to a remote machine where the
database actually resides. It's all quite tidy. The trouble is, VEOPEN
doesn't seem to work in this environment.

If nothing else, I may need to fall back to a messier approach, which would
be to programmatically do my own DSLINE and REMOTE HELLO. I believe VEOPEN
will work OK with that approach.

But I'm hoping someone may know a trick that I've missed.

Walter
