Has there been a coup in Scuba-SE, led by Lee Bell, while I am gone? :-)

Of all things, Lee and Hugh Huntzinger (remember him? who tried to
bar me from Scuba-L while I was diving in Cozumel) are joining forces
in rec.scuba, in attacking me on those Cozumel Pix I put up to show
the critters we saw at the Las Palmas site!!! :-)

The SAME Yahoo web pix cited here.

Remember the e-nekton article by Bjorn about NOT saving a pic in
.jpg while in the process of editing it in PhotoShop" because of the
automatic compression? Not a photog myself, I learned THAT much
from Bjorn's article.

So, when Hugh attacked Sue's pix for being lousy and that he could do
a much better job editing it, I remarked that its quality had already
been degraded because I had re-saved it in .jpg after cropping, and
re-saved it in again in .jpg in the Yahoo webpage.

Hugh now demanded that I should "apologize" for giving the wrong
information about saving in .jpg!!! :-)

I am not going to respond to that demand for apology until I get
home because I wanted to clip what Bjorn said verbatim (which I think
I paraphrased accurately), and this browser on the cruiseship does
NOT have any editing feature as simple as "copy" and "paste"!

I get flamed for all kind of stuff, but I have to admit this was
the first time I was flamed for showing some pix which I called
"mug shots" just to say "we saw them there". Then the flame
flared off to other areas that you wouldn't believe!!

Don't worry, my asbestos drysuit is still flawless. :-)

At any rate, that is my latest fallout from having read Bjorn's
excellent article in e-Nekton, about editing digital pix with
PhotoShop! e-Nekton #3, I think. :-)

On e-Nekton #11, Viv said,
>Mate! Another great issue. Had a good giggle over your CounterStrike
>article.

I got more than a giggle over that article. I actually could RELATE
to the part about poking things into the ear canal to try to keep it
"clean" and clear of ear wax etc. The instrument(s) I used were
the round end of small paper clips and Sue's hair-pins.

I did such a good job of cleaning that my ear canal got irritated
and started to grow a skin-like membrane deep in the canal that
required surgical removal by an ENT Specialist! :-)

So, Strike's advice of never stick anything smaller than your elbow
into your ear seems like a good one.

For Strike, the downside of distortion or loss of hearing is the
inability to hear someone offering him a beer. :-)

For me, I had already suffered the downside of paying $70 each for
three dive hoods that I "heard" was $17 each. :-))

Just when I thought I had dived all the divable sites on the West
side of Cozumel, my latest series of first dives were different
sections of Columbia Deep (between Columbia and Punta Sur), and
today the site was so different that I am sure I had never dived
it before. Sue saw and photo'd an eagle ray while I was venturing
into the abyss admiring the vertical wall and narrow ledges.
