I have used SPYBOT Search & Destroy since placing a support call to
Microsoft. The tech recommended I download and use it. I was using ADAWARE
but ADAWARE install it's own set of spyware.

I assume SPYBOT must be good since one of the spyware programs I was
infected with actually tried to keep SPYBOT from running or even downloading
it.

Tim

I guess you never do, but it did get a mention in PCWorld:
http://www.pcworld.com/resource/article/0,aid,34793,00.asp

It was featured on the Screensavers on TechTV.
http://www.techtv.com/screensavers/windowstips/story/0,24330,3386471,00.html

and also featured at www.SpyChecker.com:
Whether you are concerned about your online privacy or have suspicions that
someone may be spying on your PC activities, you'll find a solution here
that you can download and try, or even use it for free. All software has
been downloaded and tested before it was listed.
